Center's Associate Director garners media attention

(July 2007) Assistant Professor Phil Dennison, who also serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Natural and Technological Hazards, has developed a new tool for predicting when vegetation will dry to the point when it is most vulnerable to large fires in the Santa Monica Mountains near Los Angeles. A new study by Dennison and other researchers links fire history to live fuel moisture levels, and shows that live fuel moisture levels can be predicted using rainfall.
