Tae Kim's animation research appears in Natural Hazards Review
Tae Kim, a Ph.D. student in Geography, recently published a paper in the Natural Hazards Review that proposes animation as a means for analyzing wildfire evacuation orders following an event. Tae used the 2003 Southern California Firestorm as a case-study and reconstructed the timing and geography of the evacuation orders. This information was then animated in concert with wildfire spread data acquired from satellites to produce a first-of-its-kind dynamic representation of both a physical hazard process and the associated societal response.
